The problem in the USA is the two-party system means you have to either pick everything in column A or column B, and if you have any doubts you might be encouraging people to switch sides so you're evil. You can't be a Democrat who supports immigration restriction or a Republican who supports LGBT rights.
That said, while I agree being gay or bi doesn't mean you have to support Palestine, socialism, or renewable energy, I'm seeing support for gay marriage declining, so watch out--they may go after LGB people soon as well.
